How can there be a web site or a filing cabinet or anything at all that requires organization without having a category for "miscellaneous?" Where else can a person put all that stuff that doesn't seem to fit anywhere else? Such as a tribute to one of my favorite "dog artists," William Wegman. He spelled out the word "Read" using his Weimaraners.
Inspired by William Wegman, our 1997 Christmas card (shown here) uses our dogs. We took our Cairn terrier, our long-haired dachshund, our wire-haired dachshund and our Yorkie and tried to copy the spelling idea. I figured "Ho!" was the easiest Christmas word possible, and the plan was to get one good shot and then just print a card using that shot three times. As it turned out, each shot had "character." Will stood on a step ladder and took the pictures of Fozzie, Spike, Molly, and Jessie, arranged on a sheet. Josh, just barely visible above right, played dog wrangler. Mom directed. I always wanted to direct!
